Christian Education
The King of Glory congregation provides effective and meaningful educational experiences for all members of our church family each week.
Sunday School
We provide an excellent Sunday School experience for young children on two Sundays of each month, throughout the normal "school year", which occurs during the adult worship service. This allows them to participate in special activities prepared for them. These activities use arts and crafts, literature, foods, and other strategies to motivate the children and to enrich the carefully crafted lessons about the Bible and Jesus Christ. We also have a summer vacation Bible School for our children that provides fun learning activities during the summer months. |
Baptism
Jesus told us in Matthew 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Lutherans believe that Baptism is God's gift. By the waters of baptism and the Holy Spirit we are made members of the Church, which is Christ's Body. Baptism is the church's entry rite. It points to the fact that salvation comes only from God. In baptism we receive forgiveness of sin and the promise of eternal life. The service of Holy Baptism includes these words spoken as the sign of the cross is made with oil on the forehead of the child, "...Child of God, you have been sealed by the Holy Spirit and marked with the cross of Christ forever." |
Confirmation
The ELCA has said, "Confirmation ministry is a pastoral and education ministry of the church which helps the baptized person through Word and Sacrament to identify more deeply with the Christian community and participate more fully in its mission." Over a two year period candidates for confirmation study scripture, the sacraments, and the teachings of Martin Luther. In the Confirmation service, they affirm their faith. But confirmation is not "graduation." Confirmation is a part of a lifelong journey in Christ and living out our Christian faith. |
